West Shamokin 226, Saltsburg 270
West Shamokin ran its record to 8-2 overall and 8-1 in Heritage Conference play with a 226-270 win over the Saltsburg Trojans on Monday at home.
The victory completes the Wolves’ season sweep of the Trojans, with the first win coming in the season opener back on August 15th. In that matchup, West Shamokin defeated Saltsburg 217-303.
Jack McCullough posted the Monday’s low-round with a 9-hole score of 42 strokes at Deer Trak Golf Club. Eric Spencer and Nate Zik posted matching rounds of 43 for the Wolves, followed by Sean McCullough (48), and Tyler Geist (50).
West Shamokin’s only conference loss came at the hands of Ligonier Valley in what was West Shamokin’s worst team score of the season in a 208-227 defeat.
The Wolves will have a chance for payback as they welcome the Rams today in the final regular-season tuneup before the Heritage Conference championship on Wednesday at Champion Lakes Golf Course & Resort.
GIRLS SOCCER
Freeport 7, East Allegheny 0
Sidney Shemanski and Akina Boynton helped keep the Freeport girls soccer team perfect on the season as they handed East Allegheny a 7-0 home loss on Monday.
Shemanski and Boynton netted two goals a piece for the Yellowjackets, with Shemanski adding an assist to her line.
Emma Check and Kaylin Greiser each scored a goal and dished out an assist, while Aleah Parison accounted for the other Freeport goal. Adding assists for the undefeated Yellowjackets were Kylie Hoffman, Crystal Zembrzuski, and Hannah Slaughenhoupt.
Freeport (6-0 overall, 4-0 in section) play host to Burrell tomorrow at 5:15 p.m.
