The Armstrong River Hawks beat Knoch on Friday night in the opening game of the River Hawk Tip-Off Tournament and came into Saturday’s championship contest against Our Lady of Sacred Heart (OLSH) determined to play their game.
It worked to an extent as Armstrong was able to slow down a Chargers team which scored 70 points in its tournament-opening victory against Blackhawk on Friday evening.
The River Hawks limited the Chargers to 19 points less than they had scored the night before, but OLSH made enough plays against Armstrong’s man-to-man defense to put the game out of reach.
Armstrong was able to keep the game within striking distance, but were unable to put together a sustained offensive attack.
OLSH opened up an 18-point lead early in the fourth quarter to put the contest away.
Armstrong junior guard Isaiah Price led the River Hawks with 11 points, one night after leading the team with 17 against Knoch.
